2nd artifact is my Screencastify presentation from Module 7 on using Google Drawing. I made an elements of plot chart and made a recorded screencast that would show my students how to use this G-Suite component. Here is the link below-

I practiced using a screencasting tool demonstrating an understanding of a multimedia tool (Google Drawing). The most challenging part of this assignment was getting the tool to work the way I wanted it to while I was recording my screen. As you can see, it doesn't always work exactly the way I wanted/ Some of it is trial and error. Fortunately, navigating all of the apps within G-Suite use the same types of tools so the continuity is very intuitive. It did take several attempts to have the final product reflect my intention. This assignment took nowhere near any of the attempts to make some of the other assignments which required me to record my voice or video response.

677-Artifact 2-Reflection-Book Trailer for "Never Fall Down"
I really struggled with this assignment from module 4. Ironically enough, I had assigned my students the task during our unit at the time I had to do this project. I gave my students a list of multimedia tools to choose from such as imovie, biteable.com, movie maker, wevideo, and others. Students could also share any other tools that would work for the book trailer assignment. Here is the link to my final project. Hopefully, you can access it through biteable.com. I found this to be the easiest format for my novice level. https://biteable.com/watch/michelle-lingle-6-1750276 Below is a summary of my book trailer- "When the Khmer Rouge came to turn Cambodia into an agrarian utopia, no one saw it coming. Arn Chorn, spending his days selling ice cream and getting into mischief, was no exception. “Three days,” the soldiers commanded. “You can return home in three days,” they said. No one would have predicted that three days would turn into 4 years. Arn survived the systematic genocide aimed to purify his people of western values and culture so despised by the communist Khmer Rouge. After his miraculous survival of the killing fields, Arn is commanded to carry a gun bigger than himself as a child soldier fighting the Vietnamese. He narrowly escapes death again and again. About 2 million Cambodians perished in the genocide that haunts survivors today. Arn Chorn survives by “becoming little bit famous” every step of the way. In a refugee camp, Arn is noticed by an American named Peter Pond. Arn is adopted and brought to America to face new challenges in life: high school, fast food, bullying, and loneliness. Along with 2 other survivors, teachers, and a new family, Arn never felt more alone while experiencing America post-Khmer Rouge." I had my students view my trailer, of course. I had them grade it according to the rubric. We all agreed that I gave way too much of the plot away in the story. I pretty much spoiled the ending from the beginning of the trailer. It was challenging not to since a good part of the story involves his experience in America, so of course, he survives. So there's the spoiler. My biggest challenges included figuring out the software. I just needed the time to spend watching tutorials without distraction. I also needed time to play with all of the (which seemed endless) features of all of the tools available in order to decide which one I preferred. Overall, making the trailer using biteable worked fine and gave me some insight into more of the multimedia tools and some of their most basic features since biteable is pretty simple to use. |
